Organic Lavender Essential Oil – Health Benefits

Lavender essential oil is one of the most important for Aromatherapy. It has analgesic, antiseptic and cytophilic qualities, helping with the rejuvenating and healing process for the skin (burns). It relaxes our muscles, soothes, prevents insomnia, and regulates the nervous system combating stress, depression and anxiety. Also useful in the treatment of boils (skin abscess), acne, dermatitis, allergic reactions and psoriasis (skin problems in general).
Due to its analgesic properties, Lavender oil reduces headaches, menstrual cramps, muscle aches, sciatic nerve pains and arthritis, pains and strokes. Indicated in skin burns thanks to its regenerating properties, boils, cuts, dermatitis, psoriasis, bedsores. It is one of the few safe oils to use in children.

When it comes to the mental and emotional, Lavender oil provides emotional balance, bringing feeling of well-being and comfort – great to use with the elderly and convalescent people as well.

In order to be organic, Lavender oil must be free of synthetic additives like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes, and must not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering.

Lavender oil and aromatherapy

In aromatherapy Lavender oil is known as a restorer of mental balance and emotions. It can be used on adults, children, or the elderly. The substances present in the organic essential oil confer its medicinal properties, as antispasmodic, antifungal, bactericidal, analgesic, sedative, anti-inflammatory and tissue healing.

Traditionally lavender essential oil is used in aromatherapy to relieve headaches, migraines and muscle tensions; cure skin irritations, acne, burns and insect bites. Its aroma helps fight insomnia, stress and depression.

How to use Lavender oil

Organic Lavender essential oil can be applied directly on the skin in small areas. Use a few drops on small burns, insect bites and open cuts to soothe the pain, prevent infections and aid healing of the epithelium. Also use a drop of oil directly on calluses, two to three times a day.

Two drops on the pillow can provide you with a good night’s sleep. For headaches, apply a drop to the temples. Use for inhalation, in a diffuser or humidifier to open the airways and relax. Put ten drops of pure lavender essential oil in the water of a diffuser, to perfume the environment, bring peace and harmony.

You can even use Lavender in the gastronomy: use a few drops of the essential oil to bring the flavor and aroma on cakes and other sweets. Ideal for mild spicing over hot soups as well. You can drink your normal cup of tea with a drop or two of Lavender oil in winter to help breathing.

Massage and baths:

To reduce muscle tensions and pains, use eight drops of lavender oil mixed in 10 ml of a conductive vegetable oil, such as grape seed oil, for example. Take a few minutes of your day to massage your feet and legs or enjoy exchanging massages with someone else.

When having a bath, fill the tub with warm water. Then mix 10 ml of vegetable oil with 10 drops of lavender essential oil in a cup with hot milk to facilitate the incorporation of the oil and to serve as an emulsifier. When placed in hot water, the oil and the milk will distribute through the bath. Stay in the tub for 20 minutes and you will feel the benefits of lavender oil right away. It is a great way of relaxing and relieving tiredness and pain.

Soaking feet massage:

This practice is indicated for relaxation, physical fatigue, mental and activation of the circulation of the lower limbs. To prepare a heavenly soaking massage, simply add warm water in a bowl (preferably ceramic). You can add 15 drops of Lavender essential oil, throw in some flower petals, coarse salt and even some marbles that will stimulate the reflex points.

A soaking feet massage with Lavender oil is perfect for relaxation and relief of physical and mental fatigue, activation of blood circulation, activation of reflex points, where there is a great accumulation of energy. Not only acting as an aromatherapy agent but also as a reflexology aid to massage specific points on the soles of your feet.
